Mentoring

The mentoring scheme conducted at SCHVC has been operating for over 20 years now having provided experience to over 50 year 10 students.

Boys from the Eden Marine High School, often from one parent families are trained in basic Mechanics and Paint/Panel work while receiving important life skills and lessons from their male mentors.

Attending the club in pairs on a Tuesday, students from the Eden Marine High School receive instruction in most aspects of vehicle restoration and maintenance while working on a genuine car rebuild. Club members act as mentors giving guidance and encouragement to students. Often the resulting cars are sold to members or as in the case of "BEV" the Battery Electric Morris Minor, the Citroen 5CV and the Model T Ford they have been retained by the Club and become part of our Museum display. A number of local businesses and banks have assisted financially with the cost of these restorations which we greatly appreciate.

The current Mentoring project commencing 2022 is the restoration of a Republic truck donated to the club, and currently completely stripped down and housed in 2 containers. The club has received a grant of $5000 toward the cost of this restoration.
